The fallout from payback 17/06/2013

 

 

The opening segment

 Tonight’s Raw opened  with  a promo from the  new crowned World Heavy Weight Champion  Alberto Del Rio.He talks about how the wwe universe  cheerd for Ziggler for cashing in his money in the bank contract but they don’t cheer for Del Rio for beating ziggler fair and square, Alberto Del Rio gets hot headed,Cm Punks music hits and the crowed pop as he enters the ring only as Cm Punk can. Punk talks about been the best and gives big props to fallen Dolph Ziggler and claims he deserves a match for the world heavy weight championship and that Cm Punk wants to fight Alberto Del Rio tonight,Del Rio is hesitant to accept.Paul Heyman attemps to get out of this situation and Cm Punk tells him to stop it .Out comes Brikkie to set up the match to the delight of the crowed.This opening segment to the show was a great start  on this episode of Monday night raw as the 2 superstars in the promo are in the midst of face and heel turns ,its a good change of pace and I thought the involvement of Paul Heyman in this segment was a great addition.

Cm Punk Is backstage with Paul Heyman

 

Cm punk is backstage Telling Paul Heyman that he doesn’t need help from anyone to win matches and that he isn’t his client anymore and that he will always be a Paul heyman guy, heyman looked very upset in finding this out.It was interesting to see Paul Heyman show this sort of emotion because it is something that we have not seen from him in his wwe career also it is great for the storyline with heyman having ties to both punk and lesnar should they choose to go down that route.

 

 

Wade Barrett v Curtis axel

Wade Barrett is waiting in the ring for the new intercontinental champion Curtis Axel, Vickie comes out and says it will have to wait and that Barrett is going to face her suprise.And out comes the returning captain Charisma Christian to the excitement of a great crowed.

 

 

Christian gets a great reception from the crowed on his return match .Wade Barrett tries to gain control early on in this encounter by catching Christian off guard, Christian takes to the top rope to take a chance he dives onto Barrett,Barrett regains control by delivering a big knee into his opponents gut for a near fall. the crowed gets behind Christian as he delivers a very nice drop kick to Barrett .Christian hits him with a vintage tornado ddt for the 2 count ,Barrett catches Christian with a beautifully timed back kick to take control momentarily .Christian avoids Barrett in the corner to send him flying shoulder first into the ring post.

Christian hits Barrett with the kill switch to gain a good win on his return.

It was very interesting to see Christian back, he looked in great physical shape and it looks like the time off has served him very well indeed.

 

Voting poll

Wwe wanted people to vote on the stipulation for Daniel Bryan v randy Ortans match .The choice where 2 out of 3 falls, no dq and falls count anywhere

 Wyatt family video package personally I cannot wait for the Wyatt’s debut on live wwe television, it cannot come quick enough they all look great characters and personalities .it will be very interesting to see who their first encounter is with.

Rhodes scholars v sheamus

Rhodes Scholars where  waiting in the ring for their opponent in the handicap match as they do Sheamus comes out to a good reception ,Sheamus tries to get out of the blocks quickly on this one attacking both Rhodes and Sandow at once but  with Sheamus outnumbered and  held back by Damien Sandow  Cody Rhodes hits the beautifull disaster on the Celtic warrior. Team Rhodes Scholars double team Sheamus to good effect as they keep him grounded. Whilst on top Sandow nails the elbow of Destain and Cody Rhodes covers Sheamus for the 2 count ,turns the tables and  powers Rhodes over the top rope, out of nowhere Cody Rhodes attempts a risk by cross bodying sheamus only to be caught in mid air by the great white and swivelled round into the white noise . he runs to brode kick Rhodes Sandow rolls Sheamus up for the 123 .Sandown walks up the ramp smirking down to Sheamus and in frustration Sheamus hits Rhodes with a devastating brode kick.Sheamus and Sandow  have a stair down from ramp to ring.A very strong showing by damian sandow in this one but that was expected as he was teaming up to handicap sheamus.

Rvd promo video

Wwe raw goes to a break showing a Rob Ran Dam promo video regarding his return to the WWE at the Money In The Bank pay per view.Rvd would be a great addition to any roster of any promotion as he brings so much to the table plus he has earned his stripes so that alone merits him to another run with the WWE.

Backstage segment with Vickie,Maddox  and hhh

Raw comes  to a backstage segment with Brad Maddox ,Vickie Gurerro and HHH. Brad and Vickie started by saying “we just want to do something inspiring” and claimed the announced main event of Cm punk v Alberto Del Rio was genius on their part.HHH sarcastically agrees” it was a great idea” and he then asks them both what the main event would have been if Cm Punk never confronted Alberto Del Rio,Vickie then tries to cover that up by  boasting about the fact that she was the one to bring Christian back ,HHH then asks the question why” he has only just come back if he was clear a month and a half ago”.The subject then goes to Rob Van Dam and Vickie and Brad claim it was there idea to bring the star back and HHH then says “well that’s funny because I don’t recall either one of you been on the phone with us when I made this deal”.HHH then tells Vicki that” if the Shield get involved somehow tonight she must be firm and make an e example of them” ,Vicki and Brad then say “you can count on us” ,HHH then tells them” they have done an awesome job and that putting 3mb into the show was a stroke of genius” .Brad then says told you so and Vickie says he was been sarcastic .

A very good backstage segment here i personally though would like to see more of brad Maddox the kid has bags of charm and charisma and just needs the right angle to show is talents to the wwe faithful.

The camera goes back to the announcers desk and the king says” he  is looking forward to 3mb and asks Cole and JBLwhat is Vickie going to do about the Shield”,JBL says “about the same as she did about HHH regarding the return of RVD”.Cole moves it on and states” things took a turn for the worse last night at payback for Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan as they suffered a defeat due to the hands of the Shield and” Cole stated that Randy Orton was not happy with the result at Payback .Camera goes backstage to Daniel Bryan when he is preparing for his match and Kane walks In and Daniel Bryan says to Kane that you’re glad team rkno didn’t win the Tag Team Championships because to you it says I’m still the weak link and he is out to prove Kane wrong by beating Randy Orton and Kane tells Daniel Bryan that them both losing is maybe  a sign that they should give team hell no another shot ,Daniel Bryan says no he needs to go by himself and win the wwe Championship,kane also wants to win the WWE Championship and wishes Daniel Bryan good luck and Daniel Bryan takes huge offence and assumes Kane is saying he is the weak link .Kane walks out.Daniel Bryan is been shown in the right light and its about time the guy has bags of ability and he is considerd by most the best worker in the business today ,He screams future hall of famer.

Another great Daniel Bryan and Kane segment, I just hoped they would of gone down the route of a grudge match with this one but we will see.

 

 

Randy Orton v Daniel Bryan

This match is shaping up well, they may have only been together for a few weeks but it seems alot longer I say that because they look so comftable   together .Randy Orton makes his entrance to the ring in that snake like way that he does, Daniel Bryan makes his way to the ring to a huge positive reaction from the crowd as he chants his way to the ring, the king announces the winner of there vote and the match is a no dq match.

This match was a very backwards and forwards match ,The momentum switches numerous times ,Bryan was also throwing in some remarkable reversals just to name one he reversed a lu thez press into a half Boston crab.the match went to the outside as Ortan revealed a kendo stick and he put welts all over the back of Daniel bryan ,the match came to a close when Danie Bryan was what seemed to be concussed by Ortan after he suplexed him acroos the ring.

The new Divas champion AJ Lee makes her way to the ring with Big E Langston and talks about been the greatest Divas Champion and that she crushed Kaitlin ,She makes claims she gets whatever she wants and that there is no women in  the world as strong,couragiouse and greater than she is and says if there is anyone come out right now .Stephanie McMahon’s music hits the crowed pops and outcomes the million dollar princess marching to the ring ,She couldn’t get there fast enough.AJ Lee sucks up to Stephanie as Stephanie tells her she needs to be a better person now that she is the Champion,AJ takes a pop about marrying a superstar ,Stephanie makes out she’s not original.Stephanie tells AJ she  needs to remind herself who she is talking to and needs to start acting like a Champion after that AJ compares her and Stephanie together and Stephanie tells her remember if I want to you won’t have a job any more I’m sorry what was you saying?.Outcomes all the Divas, Stephanie tells Kaitlin don’t ever interrupt me again and Kaitlin gives a passionate speech about been humiliated by AJ and they go to blows soon after Big E picks up AJ and carries her back stage while she is screaming.

 

 

 

Ambrose v Kane

The United States Champion Dean Ambrose makes his original entrance scaling through the crowd to get to the ring where he is waiting upon the arrival of the big red machine Kane, kane makes his way to the ring fired up and ready to go. The bell rings and we are under way Kane starts off on top throat thrusting Ambrose and then giving him a big boot and then works on his upper body soon after giving him a sidewalk slam and Reigns gets knocked off the apron ,Seth Rollins jumps off the top rope only to be caught in the choke slam and Reigns jumps in and attacks Kane as does Ambrose to start the 3 on 1 attack and then the shield give Kane there signature powerbom and then the shield make their swift exit back through the crowed. Another strong showing from Shield member Dean Ambrose and it was worth watching but now I think the shield need to move onto bigger and better things if they are to move forward in there WWE careers.

 

Backstage Segment

 Mark Henry is seen hugging and shaking hands with friends and staff and he is due to be making a speech in the middle of the ring it then goes to the Shield who are loving what they just did,Vickie shouts at them about what they just did and the Shield laugh it off like it’s some sort of joke , Vickie is about to fire them as vince McMahan walks up and he tells the Shield they remind him of them .Vince tells Vickie they really really impress him and that he never liked the haloween mask wearing freak anyhow.

Action then goes Back to the announcer desk where the announcers are hyping up the main event, it then goes to another Wyatt video package that mentions they are coming.

Zeb Coulter is  on the stage telling the people about corruption and the government lying to us and letting foergners past the boarder and calling them rats, he also speaks about working alongside another superstar and that man speaks 5 languages, he turned out to be  Antonio Casero.

 

Antonio cesaro v William regal

Cesaro with a head butt to take Regal off his game  and then works on Regal in the corner.They come out of the corner with Cesaro out powering Regal with his pure brute strength hitting him with a gut wrench ,that is followed by a cover by Cesaro and a kickout,Regal battles back into the match with a few perfect European uppercuts and then Cesaro cuts him off and gains all the momentum.Antonio Cesaro hits the nutriliser and gets the win.It is good to see Cesaro back on the rise ,he is a great talent capabaple of anything and what better way to do that by beating William regal in a physical strong match.

 

John Cena comes out and   makes his way to the ring and tells the crowd  how he is still the WWE Champion  and if anyone wants it they will earn it, he knows he will not have forever. It was your typical john Cena promo pandering to the younger audience only as john Cena does,closing his promo with “the champ is here”.

Just at that Mark Henry walks down to the ring to give a speech regarding his twitter,and he tells Cena “you can put your guard down,John I want you to stay,I got something I need to tell all of yall”.and then Mark Henry goes on to say he respects everybody in this business because he knows how difficult it can be ,he then gives cena praises.the crowd chants”Sexual Chocolate”.Mark Henry thanks the fans,the staff,and his family, out of know where he world strongest slams Cena.Mark Henry walking backstage and caught by interviewer and Henry tells her everybody was fooled and your all a bunch of puppets and he sends a challenge out to John Cena.I along with everybody else was fooled by Mark Henrys speech and emotions ,in my opinion mark henry did a great job and fully deserves his spot.

Y2j v heath slater

Before this encounter 3mb attempted to sing for the fozzy lead singer .3mb are in the ring taunting the crowed as Jericho makes his enterence to the ring in rockstar fashion.The bell rings and Jericho chopps sSater to the delight of the crowed and Jericho does the running bulldog ,Macintyre with a cheap punch to the head and Jericho kicks out of a 2 count and Heath Slater has the momentum and drops a knee onto Jericho .Jericho slams slater down and hits him with the lion sault and the the code breaker and picks upt the win  ,Jericho takes out the rest of 3mb with codebreakers .

Backstage segment with heyman and Curtis axel

Paul heyman gets defensive of the question he was asked by the reporter as it referd to that Punk dosent need him anymore.and Heyman whent on to say i am the friend of the best in the world in fact why are you not  talking to me about Curtis axel?.

Curtis axel v sin cara

Miz is on commentary .Curtis Axel pummels Sin Cara to the ground and goes for the cover only getting a 1 count,Sin Cara gets up and delivers a authentic drop kick and sends Curtis axel through the ropes,axel back into the ring to deliver a back suplex .Sin Cara with the cover and a kickout  at 2 by Curtis axel,Sin Cara with a kick to the head,and ddt by axel and the win

Advertised for smackdown is Daniel bryan v Dean Ambrose

 

Camera is backstage and vince says “what are you gonna do about Henry, “Vickie says “we are gonna put him against Cena for the WWE Title are you ok with that”Vince”that sounds absolutely fine to me and HHH and stephanie walk in one after another and don’t agree with Vinces decisions HHH and Vince leave and Stephanie tells Vickie to trust her and not listen to anyone else.This segment was one of the best of the night ,it is looking like a serge for power between HHH,Vince  and Stephanie ,which way will it go ,know one knows but one thing is for sure it will make for good tv.

Paul heyman confronts Punk to tell him “I understand I  get it you go do it ,you’re the best in the world”.

Del Rio v Cm Punk

The bell rings and its underway and Del Rio wants to stay away form Punk early on ,Cm Punk with the kick strikes and Del Rio goes to the outside again.And now Del Rio with a big kick and he grounds Punk,Del Rio goes for the cover and Punk kicks out at 1.Del Rio reverses Punk into the corner and attacks him with his good kick strikes and ties him up in the ropes.Now Punk with the fore arm attacks and he goes for the gts and Del Rio to the outside again,this time Punk takes it to him on the outside and smashes his arm off the barriers and rodriguesz with a distraction and Del Rio takes over in this match ,ddel rio with a swift tilt a whirl backbreaker .Del Rio off the top rope and Punk with a chop and Punk with the knees to the head and now forarms to the spine and then into the backstabber and a cover and Punk kicks out at 2 .A super kick to punks head ,Punks up and the running knee into the corner and Del Rio escapes the ring  and the official begins the count as Del Rio walks away and the referere calls for the bell ,Ziggler jumps Del Rio on the ramp and goes mental ,This one could of been a longer encounter considering it was a raw main event but I suppose it was building upto the outcome that many fans thought was gonna happen at the end of the night and they wasn’t disappointed.

Lesnars music hits and a confussed Punk stands in the ring as Lesnar makes his way down, he circles the ring intimidating Punk and he then jumps in the ring with Punk and picks up a microphone and quickly drops it to give a punk a massive f5 and he leaves punk lying there .Going forward I think this is the one to watch

 

In my opinion this was a very good episode of Monday night raw ,it was one of the strongest shows up and down since the raw after wrestlemania and the awesome crowd added to the intence action.
