Why the WWE is Heading For Big Trouble

A few months back, at Survivor Series, we saw the debut of one of the best factions in recent memory, The Sheild. Made up of young talents Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, they tore through many 'superstars' in the months they've been around, they've made a lasting impression that will hopefully extend to a Wrestlemania win tomorrow night. These are three genuine talents that most believe will go their own way at some point this year.

Unfortunately, that's all WWE are doing in terms of young talent. Let's face it, Fandango is hardly the leader of a revolution of new talent is he? And neither is Brodus Clay for as long as he carries on the ridiculous dancing gimmick. The WWE have so much talent on NXT what with; Kassius Ohno, Bo Dallas, PAC (or whatever he's called in NXT) and female talent Paige. Granted Big E Langston is on the main roster, as well as being current NXT champion, but he won't get far as a bodyguard, that being said, he has a bright future I'm sure.

It doesn't seem to an outside observer that the WWE are grooming the youngsters for greatness, and this will be their downfall, because while the future inevitably lies with people like Dean Ambrose, WWE still insist on using the same old faces, in the same tired storylines, which is worrying, because they won't be around to be used much more. For example CM Punk, who is now (finally) a main player in WWE with some great stories and angles, has stated in the past that he will retire in 2015, a mere two years away. This is worrying, very worrying, because while WWE focuses on part timers like The Rock, they ignore the fact that their leading lights are very close to going out.

Their golden boy John Cena, who they like to think is invincible  is a 30-something wrestler, who is looking past his prime, should he perhaps be using whatever time he has left in the ring putting over young talent? Rather than be given all the opportunities that he's had for the last 8 years. Chris Jericho has the right idea of what to do with what is left of his time in the ring, rather than focusing on holding titles he's had before, he's focusing his efforts on putting over young talent, like he is currently with Fandango, not the best talent we know, but Jericho's doing his best to make him look a million dollars.

And as I brushed on earlier, part timers aren't gonna be around for much longer guys like The Rock (40 years old) Undertaker (48 Years old) it won't be long before they hang up their boots for good, The Rock's legacy was already stellar when he left it back in '03, he didn't really need to come back, and he certainly didn't need another title reign, going over the best champion the WWE has, a man who could have held it for another year, and still made it look effortless and fresh.

To sum up, the WWE needs to build their young talent, and quick.

  1. You hit it on the head here Major, everything you wrote I believe to be true and it is very worrying. Did The Rock and Austin need Hogan and Savage? No they did not, WWE seems scared to put their faith in new talent unfortunately. A fantastic read.

  2. Though everything that you've written is perfectly right, I think you might be wrong about Fandango. As far as the current roster
is concerned, he is kind of a fresh character. He's similar to what Del Rio was when he debuted on Raw. Great work though. Keep it up.
